## What GEO is and why it matters

Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the discipline focused on optimizing a brand's presence in the answers generated by AI engines. Unlike traditional SEO (which optimizes ranking in the SERPs), GEO optimizes citability in the answers of ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, and Copilot.

GeoSonar produces a score from 0 to 100 based on 16 sub-metrics distributed across three pillars:

**Infrastructure (30%):** The site's technical structure — Schema.org markup, llms.txt, robots.txt, sitemap, OpenGraph, loading speed, and accessibility to AI crawlers.

**Narrative (35%):** Content quality and consistency — clear brand entity definitions, FAQ content, article depth, terminological consistency, named-entity density, and authoritative tone.

**Authority (35%):** The brand's external presence — citations from authoritative sources, quality backlinks, mentions in media and academic publications, and presence on review platforms.
